Aurora, Texas


Aurora had grown to 500 population, with a dozen business houses and a two-story school building [in 1878]. [In 1882] the railroad at once gave a great impetus to the upbuilding of Decatur, while the old Town of Aurora was left five miles to one side.  Aurora, a thrifty town of 400 inhabitants, is situated fourteen miles southeast of Decatur. - History of Texas, 1922, by W. The Aurora, Texas, UFO incident reportedly occurred on April 17, 1897 when, according to locals, a UFO crashed on a farm near Aurora, Texas. The incident (similar to the more famous Roswell UFO incident 50 years later) is claimed to have resulted in a fatality from the crash and the alleged alien body is to have been buried in an unmarked grave at the local cemetery.  Read more at >>
