Porterville was located in the southwestern corner of Loving County on the east bank of the Pecos River, twenty-five miles northeast of Pecos.
Bay City, the county seat of Matagorda County, is an incorporated city at the junction of State Highways 35 and 60, in the north central portion of the county ninety miles southwest of Houston.
Collegeport is on Farm Road 1095 and the eastern shore of Tres Palacios Bay, half a mile north of Pelican Slough and two miles northeast of Palacios in southwestern Matagorda County.
Eagle Pass, the county seat of Maverick County, is located on the Mexican border at the intersection of U.S. highways 277 and 57, Farm Road 1021, and the Southern Pacific Railroad in the far western part of the county.
Brady, the county seat of McCulloch County, is located on U.S. highways 87, 283, and 190, 115 miles northwest of Austin.
Quihi History 1857. Ouihi is a scattering village, of ten or twelve habitations, one of them a substantial stone farmhouse, the others very picturesque, high-gabled, thatch-roofed, dormer-windowed, white-washed cottages, usually artistically placed in the shade of large dark live-oaks.
Mullin United Methodist Church. Charles Mullins, for whom this town was later named, came here with cattle in 1857.
Settled in 1864 by the families of William Jenkins and David Morris (1811-89), this community was called "Hughes Store" after W. C. Hughes and his wife opened a store here in the 1870s.
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. In the 1870s and 1880s many settlers of German ancestry began arriving in this area.
Jackson Massacre. Settlers Moses and Lydia Jackson set out one morning in October of 1858 with four of their seven children to spend the day with friends.
Mills County has been the home of two courthouses, both located in Goldthwaite, the county seat.
Located at the southeast corner of the Courthouse Square in Goldthwaite, Texas is the two-story, creamcolored, Victorian building which served as the Mills County jail from 1888 until September 9, 1977.
Colorado City, the county seat of Mitchell County, is on the Colorado River, Lone Wolf Creek
Motley County Railroad. Pioneer carrier for cattle and farm goods. Chartered June 20, 1913 by 92 people of Motley and nearby counties.
Pelham Community. First called Forks of the Creek, this town was settled by Black families after 1866.
Corsicana, county seat and largest city of Navarro County, is in the central portion of the county fifty-eight miles southeast of Dallas at the junction of Interstate 45, U.S.
Chatfield History 1933. The story of the location of the town of Chatfield is very interesting.
Angus History 1933. The beginning of the town of Angus dates back to a switch track on the railroad erected in order that Capt.
Richland History 1933. The trail which ran from Corsicana to Old Franklin, by way of Springfield, also went by the settlement around Asa Chambers' Store.
Frost History 1933. About four miles from the present location of Blooming Grove was an early settlement which was called Cross Roads and among the first to settle near here was J. A. Tullos in 1868.
Dawson History 1933. The Cotton Belt railroad reached the present site of Dawson about the year 1881 and Henry and Dave Dawson were living on farms inherited from their father, Britton Dawson.
Barry. This agricultural community was named for Corsicana businessman Bryan T. Barry, who developed the land deeded for the townsite by early settlers Dave and Effie Wright.
DeBerry 1936. The community of DeBerry had its origin sometime in the year of 1878.
Gary History 1936. Zuber was the first name given to this little town, but with the coming of the post office and later the railroad, necessitated a change as there was another town by the name of Zuber, older than this one in Texas.
The earliest record to be obtained of the founding of the little town, Bethany, located on the extreme eastern edge of Panola County is 1840.
Longbranch is not one of the oldest towns that one would expect it to be. Being close to Clayton, Fairplay and Pine Hill, only three miles away, its populace was scattering
Carthage History 1936. Pulaskie on the east side of the Sabine River was once the county seat of Panola County. Dissatisfaction arose asto the location.
The History of Beckville. The original town of Beckville was located one mile east, of new Beckville, but did not remain a permanent location due to, the fact that there was not a railroad.
Carthage city schools are the pride of the entire citizenery. Among the superintendents that have ever had the schools interest at heart and making progress under many handicaps were as follows
Fairplay has a history to be proud of. It is one of the oldest communities in the county, west of the Sabine River, and with the exception of Grand Bluff and Clayton, has perhaps the oldest school on this side of the river.
Baker Community. Settlement in this part of Parker County began in earnest in the 1850s and the county was formally established in 1855.
Aledo, in East Parker County, was established in 1879 when the Texas and Pacific Railroad built from Fort Worth to Weatherford.
Spring Creek, located on FM51, south of Weatherford in southern Parker County.
Anneta. In 1876, Mr. Fraser, father of L. S. Fraser, former local agent of the Railway Express Company in Weatherford, moved from Fort Worth to a point several miles east of Weatherford
New Hope, located on New Hope Road, off SH 199, is north of FM 2257 in northeastern Parker County.
Springtown is located 18 miles northeast from Weatherford. For many years it has been a prosperous country town, well supplied with church and school accommodations.
Iraan. In 1922 three local businessmen, O. W. Parker, George Thompson, and I. G. Yates, leased the drilling rights on twenty sections of ranch land to Transcontinental Oil Company.
Vance, also known as Bullhead, was the first county seat of Edwards County. In 1913 the area became part of Real County.
Bogata History 1937. Bogata, Texas, a town of 1,500 people, is located in the southwestern portion of Red River County, Texas.

Annona is on the Missouri Pacific Railroad and U.S. Highway 82 eight miles southeast of Clarksville in eastern Red River County.
Detroit is on the Missouri Pacific Railroad and U.S. Highway 82, two miles from the Lamar county line in western Red River County.

Ballinger History 1922. The only important centers of population in 1890 was Ballinger, with a population of 1,128, and in 1910 of 3,536, Other towns are Winters. Miles and Rowens.
Harmony Hill is fifteen miles northeast of Henderson and three miles southwest of Tatum in northeastern Rusk County.
George's Creek is north of U.S. Highway 67 between Cleburne and Glen Rose in northeastern Somervell County.
Breckenridge, the county seat of Stephens County, is at the intersection of U.S. highways 180 and 183, four miles east of Hubbard Creek Reservoir in west central Stephens County.
Like many other West Texas communities created with a coming rail line, Peacock developed in conjunction with the Tamford & Northwestern Railway.
Stonewall County was created in 1876 by the State Legislature, but the area was only sparsely settled by cattle ranchers before the turn of the century.
Niles City. Contrary to the common belief the packing houses and stock yards are not in Fort Worth, they are of but not in Fort Worth.

Handley is a station on the Texas & Pacific Railroad seven miles east of Fort Worth.

Now a ghost town, Upland was the first county seat of Upton County. It’s two-store stone courthouse served the county from 1911 until 191, when Rankinwas named the county seat.
Knippa, originally known as Chatfield, is on the Southern Pacific Railroad, U.S. Highway 90, and the Frio River, between Sabinal and Uvalde in southeastern Uvalde County.
Montell is located on State Highway 55, about 20 miles north of Uvalde in the northwestern part of Uvalde County.
Cline is on U.S. Highway 90 and the Southern Pacific Railroad eighteen miles west of Uvalde in southwestern Uvalde County.

Utopia. After an 1886 Indian raid on their nearby Little Creek home, R. H. Kincheloe and family moved here, built a home and in 1873 a 2-story rock store.
Edgewood 1919. The bustling little city of Edgewood, ten miles west of north from Canton, was born in the early part of 1888, under peculiar circumstances.
Martin's Mill 1919. Ten miles east of south from Canton, is a village worthy of note.
MYRTLE SPRINGS 1919. Myrtle Springs Is located on the Dixie Highway between Canton and Wills Point.

Gay Hill 1915. Old Gay Hill was once a place of note. Rev. James Weston Miller established, in 1850, there an excellent school for girls, entitled the Live Oak Female Seminary.
Tigertown, six miles southwest of the site of Brenham, was an important community in the first years of settlement of Texas. This community in southwestern Washington County was also known as Tiger Point.
Union Hill. The Hugh and Lucy Kerr family from Tennessee started the Kerr settlement in this area in 1831.
Burton 1915. When the Houston & Texas Central Railroad was extended in 1871 to Austin, the settlement in the Burton neighborhood assumed commercial importance, and was named for John M. Burton.
Rock Island was an early settlement on the Brazos River near Farm Road 1736 and west of present State Highway 6, six miles north of Hempstead and fifteen miles south of Washington-on-the-Brazos.
Evergreen was on the border of Washington and Lee counties. The area was first settled during the period of Stephen F. Austin's colony in what later became far western Washington County.
Independence. Settled in 1824. Named in 1836 to commemorate Texas independence. Important early-day town.
Sebastian is nine miles south of Raymondville on State highways 413 and 448 and the Missouri Pacific Railroad on the southern border of Willacy County.

Lasara (La Sara) is on State Highway 186, Farm Road 1015, and the Missouri Pacific line, eight miles west of Raymondville in western Willacy County.
Raymondville, the county seat of Willacy County, is at the intersection of State Highways 186 and 448 and is bordered on the east by U.S. Highway 77; the community is twenty-two miles west of Port Mansfield on the Missouri Pacific line in the center of the county.
San Perlita is on Farm roads 2209 and 3142 nine miles northeast of Raymondville in east central Willacy County.
Lyford is on State Highway 448 and the Missouri Pacific line, between Farm roads 498 and 1921 in central Willacy County. Before the town was founded, Como Se Llama area.
