Victoria, 1935. Victoria, named after the patriot Guadalupe Victoria, is situated on the east side of the Guadalupe, in DeLeon’s grant, at the intersection of the road leading from San Felipe to Goliad with that river, and about twenty miles from the mouth of the La Baca. It is a small village, and its population is chiefly Mexican. - Texas by Holley, Mary Austin; Austin, Texas, 1935, pages 122-123
