Oplin, located in far southwestern Callahan County at the intersection of Highway 604 and FM 2926. The town was settled in the 1890s and received a post office in 1903. By 1915, the population was 300. By 1940, Oplin had five businesses, a school, and a cemetery. The school closed. The post office closed in 1961. In 1990 the population was 75.
The Oplin Schoolhouse, built in 1938, is now used as a community center and is home to "The Grand Old Oplin" country and western dances on Friday nights.
